Metabolic Disruption

Meaning

Metabolic disruption refers to a pathological deviation from normal biochemical and physiological processes that maintain energy homeostasis, nutrient processing, and waste elimination in the body. This broad term encompasses a range of dysfunctions, including insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, and altered mitochondrial function, which often precede overt metabolic disease. Hormonal imbalances, such as those involving thyroid hormones, cortisol, or sex steroids, frequently contribute to or result from this state. Identifying and reversing metabolic disruption is a primary goal in preventive and longevity medicine.
