Metabolic Byproduct Handling

Meaning

The complex physiological processes responsible for the efficient detoxification, neutralization, and excretion of intermediary and terminal waste products generated during cellular metabolism. This includes the processing of ammonia, lactate, and various organic acids by the liver, kidneys, and other excretory organs. Impaired handling of these byproducts can lead to systemic toxicity, metabolic acidosis, and subsequent disruption of hormonal signaling and overall cellular function.
