Menopause Skin Changes

Meaning

Menopause skin changes refer to the collection of structural and functional alterations in the skin that occur as a direct consequence of the profound decline in circulating estrogen levels following the cessation of ovarian function. These changes include a significant reduction in dermal collagen content, decreased skin thickness and elasticity, diminished hydration, and impaired wound healing capacity. The cumulative effect is an acceleration of skin aging and increased susceptibility to dryness and fragility.
