Menopausal Osteoporosis

Meaning

Menopausal Osteoporosis is a specific, secondary form of bone fragility characterized by a rapid and clinically significant decrease in bone mineral density that is directly caused by the profound, chronic deficiency of circulating estrogen following ovarian senescence. This condition is a pathological consequence of an imbalance in the bone remodeling cycle, where the rate of bone resorption by osteoclasts dramatically exceeds the rate of new bone formation by osteoblasts.
