Meibomian Gland Dysfunction, or MGD, represents a chronic and diffuse abnormality of the meibomian glands, specialized sebaceous glands located within the eyelids. This condition is primarily characterized by obstruction of the gland’s terminal ducts and/or alterations in the quality or quantity of their lipid secretions, leading to tear film instability and symptoms commonly associated with dry eye disease.
