Medical Devices

Meaning

Medical devices are broadly defined as any instruments, apparatus, implements, machines, contrivances, implants, in vitro reagents, or other similar articles, including their necessary components and accessories, that are explicitly intended for use in the diagnosis, prevention, monitoring, treatment, or alleviation of any disease. Crucially, unlike pharmaceutical drugs, these products achieve their primary intended purposes through physical, mechanical, or thermal action, rather than through chemical action or metabolism within the body. Their essential application in hormonal health ranges from sophisticated continuous glucose monitors to highly specialized, subcutaneous delivery systems for hormone replacement therapy.
