Maximum Recoverable Volume

Meaning

Maximum Recoverable Volume (MRV) is an advanced principle in exercise physiology that denotes the absolute highest volume of training stress an individual can tolerate over a specific period, typically a microcycle, while still achieving full systemic and cellular recovery before the next training phase. Exceeding this threshold results in maladaptation, characterized by impaired performance and a negative shift in the anabolic-to-catabolic hormonal ratio.
