Male Osteoporosis

Meaning

Male osteoporosis is a skeletal disorder characterized by low bone mineral density and microarchitectural deterioration of bone tissue, leading to increased bone fragility and a heightened risk of fracture. Although often considered a condition of postmenopausal women, it is a significant and under-diagnosed health concern in aging men. The clinical manifestation is typically asymptomatic until a fragility fracture occurs, most commonly in the hip, spine, or wrist. Addressing hormonal factors, particularly testosterone and estrogen status, is paramount in the clinical management of this condition.
