Male Hypogonadotropic Hypogonadism

Meaning

Male Hypogonadotropic Hypogonadism (HH) is a clinical endocrine disorder characterized by a primary failure of the testes to produce sufficient testosterone and/or sperm, resulting from inadequate stimulatory signals from the pituitary gonadotropins, Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH). This is specifically classified as a secondary or tertiary hypogonadism, signifying that the root pathology lies within the hypothalamus or the pituitary gland, rather than a direct failure of the gonadal tissue itself. The resultant severe androgen deficiency leads to symptoms including low libido, reduced muscle mass, and infertility.
