Male Androgen Deficiency

Meaning

Male Androgen Deficiency, often clinically referred to as hypogonadism or Low T, is a condition characterized by a consistent failure of the testes to produce physiological levels of testosterone, the primary male androgen, and/or a reduced responsiveness of androgen receptors in target tissues. This deficiency leads to a spectrum of clinical symptoms, including reduced libido, erectile dysfunction, decreased muscle mass, increased visceral fat, and often subtle cognitive and mood changes. Diagnosis requires careful correlation of clinical symptoms with consistently low serum testosterone concentrations.
