Lymphatic Clearance

Meaning

Lymphatic Clearance refers to the physiological process by which interstitial fluid, cellular waste products, toxins, and large molecules—including certain hormones and immune complexes—are collected and transported away from tissues by the lymphatic system. Efficient lymphatic clearance is essential for reducing tissue edema, modulating local inflammation, and ensuring the proper removal of hormone metabolites by the liver and kidneys. Compromised clearance can lead to localized inflammation and systemic congestion.
