Luteinizing Hormone Mimicry

Meaning

Luteinizing Hormone Mimicry describes the pharmacological action of an exogenous agent, such as a glycoprotein or peptide, that functionally imitates the biological effects of the endogenous Luteinizing Hormone (LH) by binding to and activating the LH Receptor (LHR). This agonistic action potently stimulates steroidogenesis within the gonads, driving testosterone production in testicular Leydig cells and progesterone synthesis in ovarian luteal cells. This principle is widely utilized in fertility treatments and hormonal management.
