Luteal Phase Deficiency

Meaning

Luteal Phase Deficiency, or LPD, is a clinical condition characterized by insufficient progesterone production by the corpus luteum during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle, or an inadequate endometrial response to normal progesterone levels. This hormonal imbalance creates a suboptimal uterine environment, which may impede successful embryo implantation or the maintenance of an early pregnancy.
