Low-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol

Meaning

Low-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol, or LDL-C, represents cholesterol carried within low-density lipoprotein particles. These particles transport cholesterol from the liver to peripheral cells, supplying essential lipids for cellular functions and membrane integrity. Excessive LDL-C, however, can contribute to arterial wall deposition, carrying significant cardiovascular health implications.
