Longitudinal Study

Meaning

A Longitudinal Study is an observational research design wherein the same cohort of subjects is assessed repeatedly over an extended period, often spanning years or decades, to observe developmental trends or the progression of chronic conditions. This methodology is invaluable in endocrinology for tracking age-related hormonal decline or the long-term effects of early life exposures. It allows for the differentiation of true aging effects from cross-sectional variability.
