Long-Acting Injectables

Meaning

Long-Acting Injectables, often abbreviated as LAIs, are specialized pharmaceutical formulations designed to deliver medication into the body with a sustained release over an extended duration, ranging from weeks to months, following a single administration. These agents create a depot of the active substance within the muscle or subcutaneous tissue, from which the drug is gradually absorbed into the systemic circulation, maintaining therapeutic concentrations without the need for frequent dosing.
