Localized Inflammation

Meaning

Localized Inflammation is a protective, acute physiological response restricted to a specific area of the body, initiated by tissue injury, infection, or exposure to irritants. Clinically, it is characterized by the classic signs of redness, swelling, heat, and pain at the site of injury. The primary biological purpose is to contain the damaging agent, eliminate dead cells, and initiate the necessary processes for tissue repair and healing. Persistent, low-grade localized inflammation can, however, contribute to chronic tissue pathology.
