Liver Function

Meaning

Liver function refers to the myriad of critical biochemical processes carried out by the hepatic system, including the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins, detoxification of endogenous and exogenous compounds, and the synthesis of vital proteins and hormones. In the context of hormonal health, the liver is a central endocrine organ, responsible for the production of Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1) and the clearance and conjugation of steroid and thyroid hormones. Compromised liver function directly impacts systemic hormonal balance and metabolic health.
