Lipoprotein Transport

Meaning

Lipoprotein transport refers to the essential physiological process by which lipids, primarily cholesterol and triglycerides, are solubilized and moved throughout the aqueous environment of the bloodstream. These hydrophobic molecules are packaged within spherical particles called lipoproteins, which possess a core of lipids surrounded by a hydrophilic shell of phospholipids, free cholesterol, and apolipoproteins, enabling their systemic circulation and delivery to target tissues.
