Lipopolysaccharide Reduction

Meaning

Lipopolysaccharide Reduction is the therapeutic strategy aimed at decreasing the circulating levels of lipopolysaccharides (LPS), which are potent pro-inflammatory molecules derived from the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria in the gut. Elevated systemic LPS, often referred to as endotoxemia, is a significant driver of chronic low-grade inflammation, insulin resistance, and hormonal dysregulation. The clinical goal is to minimize the translocation of this toxin from the intestinal lumen into the bloodstream.
