Lipolytic Efficiency

Meaning

Lipolytic Efficiency is a measure of the body’s physiological capacity to effectively break down stored triglycerides within adipocytes (fat cells) into glycerol and free fatty acids for energy utilization. A high degree of efficiency indicates a well-regulated metabolic state where hormonal signals, particularly catecholamines and glucagon, can readily access and mobilize fat stores for fuel, rather than relying solely on carbohydrate oxidation. This is a critical factor in achieving and maintaining optimal body composition.
