Lipid Profiles

Meaning

Lipid profiles, also known as lipid panels, are a set of blood tests that measure the concentration of specific lipids and lipoproteins in the plasma, including total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, and triglycerides. This clinical assessment provides crucial information regarding an individual’s cardiovascular risk and metabolic status. Deviations from optimal ranges indicate dyslipidemia, a major modifiable risk factor.
