Lipid Profile Analysis

Meaning

Lipid profile analysis is a clinical diagnostic test that quantifies the concentrations of various fats and fat-like substances, or lipids, circulating in the blood, primarily cholesterol and triglycerides. This panel typically includes measurements of total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C), and triglycerides. The analysis is a standard tool for assessing cardiovascular risk and evaluating the downstream metabolic effects of hormonal imbalances, such as hypothyroidism or androgen excess.
