Liothyronine

Meaning

The pharmaceutical preparation of triiodothyronine (T3), which is the most biologically active form of thyroid hormone. Liothyronine is utilized in clinical endocrinology to treat hypothyroidism, often in combination with levothyroxine (T4), or in cases where peripheral conversion of T4 to T3 is impaired. Due to its short half-life and potent action, it requires careful titration and monitoring.
