LHRH Agonists

Meaning

LHRH Agonists, also known as GnRH Agonists, are synthetic compounds that mimic the natural gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) produced by the hypothalamus. These agents initially stimulate the pituitary gland’s GnRH receptors, but their continuous, non-pulsatile administration leads to desensitization and down-regulation of these receptors, effectively suppressing the release of gonadotropins.
