LH Stimulation

Meaning

LH stimulation describes the potent biological effect of Luteinizing Hormone, a crucial glycoprotein gonadotropin secreted by the anterior pituitary gland, upon the gonadal tissues. This hormonal signal is the definitive trigger for ovulation in the female reproductive cycle, initiating the transformation of the ovarian follicle into the corpus luteum. In the male, LH stimulation is the primary signal that drives the testicular Leydig cells to synthesize and secrete testosterone.
