LH Pulse

Meaning

An LH pulse is a discrete, episodic burst of Luteinizing Hormone secretion from the anterior pituitary gland into the systemic circulation. This pulsatile release pattern is not continuous but occurs in rhythmic, predictable intervals, directly reflecting the upstream pulsatile release of Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) from the hypothalamus. The frequency and amplitude of these pulses are crucial regulatory signals for gonadal function, dictating the production of sex steroids in both males and females.
