LH Mimicry

Meaning

LH Mimicry is the pharmacological action where an exogenous substance, typically a drug like human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG), binds to and activates the Luteinizing Hormone Receptor (LHR), thereby duplicating the key physiological effects of the body’s naturally produced Luteinizing Hormone (LH). This strategic substitution is utilized in clinical practice to trigger specific reproductive events, such as final oocyte maturation in women or endogenous testosterone production in men. The compound effectively acts as a synthetic surrogate for the natural pituitary hormone.
