LH and FSH Levels

Meaning

LH and FSH Levels refer to the measured circulating concentrations of Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH), two critical gonadotropins secreted by the anterior pituitary gland. These hormones are fundamental to the function of the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal (HPG) axis, governing reproductive and hormonal health in both sexes. In men, they stimulate testosterone production and spermatogenesis; in women, they regulate ovarian follicle development, estrogen and progesterone production, and ovulation. Assessment of these levels is a primary diagnostic tool for evaluating fertility status and diagnosing central or primary gonadal dysfunction.
