LH Analogue

Meaning

An LH Analogue is a synthetic compound designed to mimic the biological activity of Luteinizing Hormone (LH), a critical glycoprotein hormone produced by the anterior pituitary gland that regulates reproductive and endocrine function. In males, LH stimulates the Leydig cells in the testes to produce testosterone; in females, it triggers ovulation and corpus luteum formation. Clinically, these analogues are used in fertility treatments to induce ovulation or to stimulate gonadal steroidogenesis in cases of hypogonadism. The use of an analogue provides a controlled, pharmacologically potent stimulus to the gonadal axis, overcoming potential deficiencies in endogenous pituitary signaling.
