LH Analog

Meaning

An LH Analog is a synthetic compound specifically designed to mimic the structure and core biological actions of Luteinizing Hormone (LH), a critical glycoprotein hormone secreted by the anterior pituitary gland. Physiologically, LH plays a central, non-negotiable role in the reproductive endocrine system, stimulating ovulation in females and driving testosterone production in males by binding to the LH receptor. These pharmaceutical analogs are clinically utilized in assisted reproductive technologies (ART) to precisely trigger final follicular maturation and ovulation, or in endocrinology to stimulate necessary gonadal steroidogenesis. Their engineered structure often allows for enhanced stability and a more predictable pharmacological action compared to the native, rapidly cleared hormone.
