Leydig Cell

Meaning

The Leydig Cell is a primary endocrine cell located in the interstitial tissue of the testes, critically responsible for synthesizing and secreting androgens, predominantly testosterone, in response to Luteinizing Hormone (LH) stimulation. These cells are fundamental to male reproductive physiology and the maintenance of secondary sexual characteristics. Their function is directly tied to the integrity of the HPG axis.
