Leydig Cell Toxicity

Meaning

Leydig Cell Toxicity is a pathological condition characterized by damage or functional impairment to the Leydig cells, which are the primary testosterone-producing cells located within the interstitial tissue of the testes. This cellular injury leads directly to primary hypogonadism, resulting in diminished circulating testosterone levels and potential fertility impairment. The toxicity can be induced by various factors, including chemotherapy agents, environmental toxins, or certain chronic diseases.
