Leuprorelin

Meaning

Leuprorelin is a synthetic peptide analog of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), a key regulatory hormone produced by the hypothalamus. It functions initially as an agonist at the pituitary GnRH receptors, but through continuous administration, it induces desensitization and down-regulation of these receptors, effectively suppressing the release of pituitary gonadotropins.
