Leukocyte Telomere Length

Meaning

Leukocyte Telomere Length (LTL) is the measured length of the repetitive DNA sequences, known as telomeres, found at the ends of chromosomes within white blood cells (leukocytes). LTL is widely utilized as a measurable biomarker of biological aging, as telomeres naturally shorten with each cell division and in response to oxidative stress and chronic inflammation. Shorter LTL is clinically associated with an increased risk of age-related diseases and overall mortality.
