LDL-C

Meaning

LDL-C stands for Low-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol, which precisely represents the concentration of cholesterol molecules that are carried by low-density lipoprotein particles within the circulating bloodstream. This measurement is a critical and universally accepted clinical biomarker used for comprehensive cardiovascular risk assessment, often colloquially referred to as “bad cholesterol.” Significantly elevated levels of LDL-C are strongly and directly associated with the initiation and progressive development of atherosclerosis, which is the underlying pathological process responsible for most heart attacks and strokes. Effective management of hormonal health frequently includes a focused effort to monitor and optimize these circulating LDL-C levels.
