Krebs Cycle

Meaning

The Krebs Cycle, also known as the Citric Acid Cycle or Tricarboxylic Acid (TCA) Cycle, is the central metabolic pathway occurring within the mitochondrial matrix responsible for generating the majority of cellular energy in the form of ATP precursors. This cycle is intrinsically linked to hormonal regulation, as the availability of its substrates dictates cellular energy status, which in turn influences anabolic and catabolic hormone actions. Proper function is non-negotiable for cellular vitality.
