Kidney Allograft Failure

Meaning

Kidney Allograft Failure refers to the complete or partial cessation of function in a transplanted kidney, or allograft, necessitating a return to dialysis or re-transplantation. This serious clinical outcome can result from acute rejection, chronic allograft nephropathy, or other non-immunological causes, such as recurrence of the original disease. Hormonal imbalances, particularly those affecting blood pressure and metabolism, can significantly contribute to long-term allograft survival.
