KEEPS Study

Meaning

The Kronos Early Estrogen Prevention Study (KEEPS) was a randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial designed to investigate the effects of two different regimens of hormone therapy on the progression of atherosclerosis and other health markers in recently menopausal women. This major clinical trial provided valuable data regarding the cardiovascular and cognitive effects of early intervention with hormone replacement therapy. It specifically compared oral conjugated equine estrogens with transdermal estradiol, both with micronized progesterone.
