Joint Inflammation

Meaning

Joint inflammation, clinically termed arthritis when chronic, represents a localized physiological response within a joint to various stimuli such as injury, infection, or autoimmune activation. This process involves the recruitment of immune cells, release of chemical mediators, and changes in vascular permeability, manifesting as pain, swelling, warmth, redness, and a reduction in the joint’s functional capacity. It is the body’s protective attempt to eliminate harmful agents and initiate tissue repair within the articular structures.
