Jet Lag Management

Meaning

Jet Lag Management refers to the set of behavioral, environmental, and pharmacological strategies employed to rapidly resynchronize the body’s internal circadian rhythm with the local time of a new geographic location following rapid trans-meridian travel. The primary physiological disturbance, known as desynchronosis, results from the misalignment between the suprachiasmatic nucleus, the body’s master clock, and the external light-dark cycle. Effective management is particularly relevant in hormonal health, as the circadian system regulates the pulsatile release of cortisol, melatonin, and growth hormone, and disruption can impair metabolic and immune function, thereby affecting overall wellness and longevity.
