Jet Lag

Meaning

Jet Lag is a transient physiological and psychological syndrome resulting from rapid travel across multiple time zones, causing a temporary desynchronization between the body’s endogenous circadian rhythm and the external environment’s light-dark cycle. Symptoms typically include disturbed sleep, pronounced fatigue, impaired cognitive function, and gastrointestinal distress, reflecting a widespread disruption of the body’s hormonal and metabolic timing. This condition is a clinical manifestation of acute chronobiological misalignment.
