Isolevuglandins

Meaning

Isolevuglandins, abbreviated as IsoLGs, are a class of highly reactive lipid peroxidation products. These compounds originate from the non-enzymatic breakdown of polyunsaturated fatty acids, particularly arachidonic acid, under oxidative stress within biological systems. Their distinct electrophilic nature allows them to readily form covalent adducts with proteins and DNA.
