Intramuscular Injections

Meaning

Intramuscular Injections (IM) are a common, established clinical technique for administering medications, including various hormonal agents and peptides, directly into the deep skeletal muscle tissue. This route of administration is preferred when a rapid absorption into the bloodstream is desired or when the volume of medication is too large for a subcutaneous injection. The rich vascular supply of the muscle allows for efficient systemic delivery and a sustained release profile, particularly for oil-based hormone preparations.
