Internal Clock Synchronization

Meaning

Internal Clock Synchronization, or circadian alignment, is the process of precisely coordinating the body’s numerous peripheral biological rhythms with the central master clock located in the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) of the hypothalamus. Achieving this synchronization is paramount for optimal hormonal health, as the secretion of nearly all major hormones, including cortisol, melatonin, and growth hormone, follows a predictable 24-hour cycle. Desynchronization, often caused by inconsistent light exposure or meal timing, is a major physiological stressor.
