Interleukin-15

Meaning

Interleukin-15 (IL-15) is a pleiotropic cytokine primarily known for its role in the innate and adaptive immune systems, particularly in the development, maintenance, and proliferation of natural killer (NK) cells and T cells. Within the hormonal health space, it is also recognized as a myokine, a protein secreted by muscle fibers during contraction. This dual function links muscle activity directly to metabolic and immune regulation.
