Inter-Axis Feedback Mechanisms

Meaning

Inter-Axis Feedback Mechanisms refer to the complex, bidirectional communication pathways and regulatory signals that exist between the major neuroendocrine axes, such as the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal (HPA), Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal (HPG), and Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Thyroid (HPT) axes. These mechanisms ensure that the body’s hormonal systems operate in a coordinated and integrated manner, allowing for comprehensive adaptation to stress, reproduction, and metabolism. Dysregulation in one axis inevitably cascades to others.
