Insulin Resistance Indicators

Meaning

Insulin Resistance Indicators are a group of clinical, biochemical, and anthropometric markers that signify a diminished responsiveness of peripheral tissues, such as muscle, fat, and liver, to the action of insulin. These indicators, including elevated fasting insulin, high HOMA-IR scores, and increased visceral adiposity, collectively point toward a state where the pancreas must secrete excessive insulin to maintain euglycemia. Identifying these indicators is critical, as insulin resistance is a central driver of metabolic syndrome and hormonal dysfunction.
