Injected Hormones

Meaning

Injected hormones refer to pharmaceutical preparations of bio-identical or synthetic hormones administered via subcutaneous or intramuscular injection, a common route for hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and other endocrine treatments. This delivery method is specifically chosen to bypass the hepatic first-pass metabolism associated with oral administration, allowing for direct systemic circulation and higher bioavailability of the active compound. Injectable formulations, such as testosterone cypionate or estradiol valerate, are often favored for their ability to achieve and maintain stable, supraphysiological, or therapeutic serum concentrations over a prolonged period.
