Inflammatory Markers

Meaning

Inflammatory markers are quantifiable biochemical indicators found in the blood that reflect the presence and intensity of systemic inflammation within the body. These molecules, which include high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), fibrinogen, and various cytokines, are integral to the body’s immune response to injury or infection. Persistently elevated inflammatory markers, even at low levels, are clinically associated with an increased risk of chronic diseases, including cardiovascular disease and metabolic dysfunction, and often signal a state of chronic cellular stress.
